News 2: Milestone! The First Ship Launched at Wuhu Shipyard's Weihai Base
On May 15th, the 14,600-ton multi-purpose heavy-lift ship (W2234) constructed by Wuhu Shipyard at its Weihai base was successfully launched. Representatives of the shipowner and DNV (Det Norske Veritas) classification society attended the ceremony. By leveraging intelligent equipment, the construction progress of this ship was expedited, completing the key milestone 45 days ahead of Ship No. 3. The project team optimized the slipway resources, surmounted the challenge of welding extra-thick steel plates, and shortened the slipway cycle
This launching marks the maturity of Wuhu Shipyard's intelligent shipbuilding system. The Weihai base was signed and established in August 2023, with a total investment of 2 billion yuan and covering an area of 680 mu. By utilizing the resources of the former Sanjin Shipbuilding Industry, it went into production on May 30th last year. The base is mainly engaged in ship construction, design, repair, and the development of marine engineering equipment. It has a 100,000-ton dry dock and two 50,000-ton slipways, and mainly constructs high-value-added ship types, with a planned production capacity of 800,000 deadweight tons and an annual output value of 5 billion yuan.
The base is equipped with 8 fully automated production lines, intelligent workshops, and five technologies applied for the first time in China. Combined with advanced vision technology and laser welding technology, it realizes human-machine collaboration, with an automation rate of 80% and a 40% reduction in labor. With its high-efficiency intelligent management and safety protection, it is a "super factory" in the shipbuilding industry. (Source: "International Shipping Network" WeChat official account)
News 3: Efficiency Surges! Chinese Shipbuilding Enterprises Continuously Push Forward the Improvement of Construction Techniques
Currently, Chinese shipbuilding enterprises are constantly improving their construction techniques, which empowers the leap in production efficiency.
Recently, the 3rd 7,000-car LNG dual-fuel Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) built by Guangzhou Shipyard International for CITIC Financial Leasing completed the sea trials in the "two-in-one" mode of fuel oil and LNG, setting a new record for the sea trial cycle of the company's similar-type ships.
During the dock stage, the ship completed the tightness inspection of the LNG inner-wall pipes and the debugging of the movable deck in advance. In the wharf stage, some sea trial items were moved forward, greatly shortening the debugging cycle. The team also innovatively applied the "One-Time Installation in Place" (OTS) process to achieve the precise installation of the side doors of the roll-on/roll-off system, winning valuable time for the sea trials. Before the sea trials, the project team organized all participating departments to complete the debugging of the LNG fuel system during the wharf stage through digital simulation debugging technology, which also bought precious time for the sea trials.
Recently, the No. 2 85,000-ton new-type multi-purpose ship undertaken by CSSC Chengxi Yangzhou Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. for CITIC Financial Leasing was successfully launched.
Through the "assembly first, painting later" process and process optimization, this ship achieved a breakthrough in the integrity of overall assembly: the painting of Cargo Hold No. 6 was completed, 90% of the container feet were completed, the rock wool boards in the central control room were installed, and 6 kilometers of cables were laid in the four sections of the engine room. In the slipway launching process, adhering to the goal-oriented approach to promote improvement, the engine room stern section was connected through in 20 days, the "one-stop" construction cycle of the main hull was 24 days, and the sub-node of aligning wires and checking the light was achieved in 29 days, which were respectively 3 to 7 days shorter than those of the first-built ship. Finally, it was successfully launched one day ahead of the planned cycle, effectively promoting the efficiency of the construction process and the optimization of the working procedures.
CSSC Guangxi Company Completes the Transfer and Assembly of Large Ring-shaped Sections in Shipbuilding for the First Time
Recently, CSSC Guangxi Company has completed the transfer and assembly of two large ring - shaped sections. This is a technological innovation practice of the company using modular vehicles to transfer and assemble large ring - shaped sections for the first time, marking a breakthrough in the process improvement in the field of large - scale ship section assembly construction in Guangxi.
Next, based on this case, the company will solidify the standard production process for subsequent ships, improve and optimize the production organization, command, and coordination functions in the construction process, promote the standardized and mass production of subsequent ships, and gradually achieve the goal of enhancing efficiency by shortening the slipway construction cycle.
Recently, the 18,500-ton oil-chemical ship built by Southeast Shipbuilding was delivered, 167 days ahead of the contract period.
During the construction of this ship, through overall resource planning and lean management, the forward movement of processes was implemented to compress the processing cycle of section structures. Meanwhile, the special coating process and the control measures for coating quality improvement were optimized in a targeted manner. As a result, the special coating cycle of the cargo oil tanks was significantly shortened, achieving a double improvement in the standardization of batch construction and quality stability, and obtaining the excellent achievement of delivering the ship 167 days ahead of the contract period.
